Garda Fraudulent Calls: Fake Carabinieri Posing as Police in Scams

They pose as Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not soldiers, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize the scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals

who, having obtained money, no longer show themselves.
