Scammers Pose as Police to Target Businesses in Garda Area

They pose as Carabinieri when they call hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or the Comune police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

has obtained money and then disappears.
