Genuine Carabinieri Warn of Phone Scams Targeting Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to the arms magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, law enforcement, fire brigade, or the Comune police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

having obtained money, disappears and no longer shows up.
