Garda Area Scammers Pose as Police, Offer Fake Magazines

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.

So, be alert and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by those who,

having obtained money, stop appearing.
