Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda, Fake Magazine Offers

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, proposing subscriptions to the forces’ magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, no longer appear.
