Scammers Pretending to Be Carabinieri in Garda Area

They pretend to be Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to the force’s magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, disappear and do not show up again.
