Garda Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Hoteliers and Vendors

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or local Municipality authorities.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement authorities.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, disappear and do not show themselves again.
