Garda Fraudsters Impersonate Police, Targeting Local Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, proposing subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have become a target of those who,

having obtained money, disappear and are no longer visible.
