Carabinieri Impersonators Target Garda Businesses in Phone Scams

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering magazine subscriptions from the force.

These are not actual military personnel but con artists who, at different times, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by people who,

after obtaining money, cease to appear.
