Garda Hoteliers Targeted by Scammers Pretending to Be Carabinieri

They pretend to be Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

having obtained money, no longer make an appearance.
