Scammers Imitate Carabinieri in Garda, Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Middle and Upper Garda, offering magazine subscriptions from the armed forces.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune (Municipality) fire department.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by those who,

having obtained money, no longer appear.
