Fake Carabinieri Phone Scams Targeting Garda Hoteliers and Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to be associated with finance, police, fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply call 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

after obtaining money, disappears and no longer shows up.
