Scammers Pose as Police in Garda Area, Warns Authorities

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to the military‘s magazines.

They are not members of the military, but con artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have become the target of someone who,

after obtaining money, disappears and no longer appears.
