Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Fleece Garda Region Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, proposing subscriptions to the army’s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, police, fire brigades, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize the scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after obtaining money, disappears.
