Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area, Warns Authorities

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, the police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

having obtained money, no longer appear or make themselves visible.
