Carabinieri Impersonators Target Garda Business Owners in Scams

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to police publications.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to the finance department, police, firefighters, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscription to nonexistent magazines or those with no connection to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, no longer appear.
