Scammers Impersonate Police for Fake Magazine Subscriptions in Garda

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, firefighters, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the true Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by someone who,

after obtaining money, disappears and is no longer visible.
