Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Hospitality and Shops

They pretend to be Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to the army‘s magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, firefighters, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

after obtaining money, no longer shows up.
