Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Military Magazine Subscriptions

Pretending to be Carabinieri, they contact hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda regions by phone, offering subscriptions to military magazines of the armed forces.

These are not actual military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authority, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune‘s firefighters.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately alert the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, cease contact and disappear.
