Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Garda Region Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to the army’s magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, no longer make themselves visible.
