Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, proposing subscriptions to the force’s magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement forces.

Therefore, beware and immediately notify the actual Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after obtaining money, disappears.
