Garda Area Scammers Pose as Police for Fraudulent Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the armed forces magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who periodically claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to non-existent magazines or ones that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
