Fraudsters Impersonate Carabinieri to Scam Hoteliers and Shops

Pretending to be Carabinieri, they contact hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda by phone, offering subscriptions to the corps‘s magazines.

They are not military personnel but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to fake magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after obtaining money, disappears.
