Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda, Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines of the force.

They are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the authentic Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, cease to appear or make themselves scarce.
