Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Solicit Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, proposing subscriptions to magazines from the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune fire department.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,

after obtaining money, stops showing up.
