Scammers Pretend to Be Authorities in Garda, Targeting Local Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to the arma magazines.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, disappear and no longer show themselves.
