Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medium and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not actual military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, fire brigade, or the Comune‘s firefighters.

How to Recognize Scams

They often suggest subscriptions to non-existent magazines or ones that have no relation to the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, cease to appear.
