Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the weapon’s magazines.

These individuals are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri— just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after obtaining money, disappears.
