Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines affiliated with the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, firefighters, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the Carabinieri—simply dial 112— as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, disappear without a trace.
