Fraudulent Calls Impersonate Carabinieri to Scam Businesses in Garda

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri—simply dial 112— as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, disappear and no longer show themselves.
