Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Magazines in Garda Region

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in Mid and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to the arm‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri— just dial 112— as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after obtaining money, stops showing up.
