Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area Contacting Local Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone contacts with hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to the arme magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after obtaining money, no longer shows up.
