Federica Brignone Clinches Super G Gold at Beijing Olympics After Injury Comeback
Federica Brignone won gold in Super-G at the Olympics on February 12, overcoming a serious injury sustained during Italian championships nearly 10 months earlier. Despite doubts due to pain and the use of crutches, she finished 41 hundredths of a second ahead of the second-place athlete, a margin that included six competitors.
Her recovery was attributed to the medical team and a targeted rehabilitation program. According to trainer Walter Stacco, Brignone transitioned from crutches to Olympic gold in just over 10 months. She was described as “decisive but worried” during recovery, with her participation confirmed only on the morning of the race.
