Lombardy Allocates €5 Million to Strengthen Forest Fire Prevention

Lombardy regional government has allocated €5 million for 2026-2027 to enhance wildfire prevention and response. The funds will support strengthening AIB teams, volunteer organizations, and upgrading equipment, vehicles, and protective gear, as announced by Civil Protection Minister Romano La Russa.

Of the total, €3 million will be used for purchasing vehicles, equipment, and infrastructure, while €2 million will cover insurance, PPE, and medical checks for operators. Beneficiaries include provincial authorities, Milan Metropolitan City, mountain communities, and regional park management entities, with a focus on operational support and volunteer training.
