Portese Underwater Cleanup Removes Nearly 500 Tires

A major cleanup effort took place at Portese harbor and beach, organized by Plastic Free and supported by the local municipality. The operation involved authorities, the Atis Diving Club, and volunteers, focusing on removing nearly 500 tires and approximately 3,000 kilograms of debris from the seabed and shoreline.

The initiative also collected around 4 kilograms of other waste, with recovered tires scheduled for free disposal by a specialized company. The event exemplified collaboration between local institutions, environmental groups, and citizens to improve the area’s cleanliness.
