Mimosa Lombardia Project Presented at Palazzo Pirelli to Tackle Gender-Based Violence

The “Progetto Mimosa Lombardia” was presented on June 30, 2026, at Palazzo Pirelli in Milan. The national pilot initiative, promoted by the association Farmaciste Insieme, involves pharmacies across the region in a network offering listening, guidance, and support to women who are victims of violence, leveraging pharmacies as local points of proximity to identify vulnerable situations and direct women to the appropriate services.

The project builds on a model developed over more than 15 years by Farmaciste Insieme, using the daily accessibility of community pharmacies. The Lombardy phase includes targeted training for pharmacists, developed with experts in combating gender-based violence and professionals from local anti-violence networks. Support tools include an information poster displayed in participating pharmacies with a QR code for quick access to contacts and services, and the Free Bees app for discreet consultation of useful numbers and anti-violence resources.

A key development is the creation of the Board Insieme Lab, a permanent platform bringing together healthcare professionals, institutions, civic associations, the Third Sector, and sports organizations to strengthen the local support network and share best practices. Among the board members are Fondazione Ospedale Niguarda, ANDI, Fnopi Lombardia, Cittadinanzattiva Lombardia, UISP, and the Italian Motorcycle Federation’s Lombardy committee, alongside regional officials and pharmacy representatives who highlighted the role of pharmacies as a first point of trust and a preventive tool in violence prevention.
