Strega Prize 2026 Winner to Be Announced at Rocca di Lonato on July 11

The 2026 Strega Prize winner will take part in a public meeting on Saturday, July 11 at 9.30 pm at the Rocca di Lonato del Garda. The event will be held in the Gardens of the Casa del Podestà within the Fondazione Ugo Da Como complex, with free entry until seats are filled; registration is required via Eventbrite.

For the fifth consecutive year, Lonato hosts the winner’s first public appearance shortly before the prize ceremony for the 80th edition, scheduled for July 8 in Rome’s Piazza del Campidoglio, with Rai television coverage. During the evening, the winner will speak with Giovanni Sciola, director of the “Premio Strega” project for the Fondazione Ugo Da Como and the “Essays” author residences initiative, in collaboration with the Fondazione Maria e Goffredo Bellonci and the Premio Strega leadership. The six finalists announced on June 3 in Benevento are Michele Mari (I convitati di pietra, Einaudi), Matteo Nucci (Platone.
