Storm Hits Vittoriale, Puglia’s Mainmast Breaks
A storm that hit the Alto Garda region broke the main mast of the historic ship *Nave Puglia* at the Vittoriale degli Italiani, after a large cypress uprooted by the wind fell onto the vessel’s superstructures and damaged the historic structure.
Giordano Bruno Guerri, president of the Vittoriale foundation, has contacted the Italian Navy and technicians to carry out inspections and plan the restoration. Teams are also removing fallen trees and securing the affected areas. The bad weather also caused damage around the Laghetto delle Danze and the Vallette, where landslides and downed trees temporarily made some paths unusable, while Villa Mirabella remains closed.
For Friday, 17 July, the Vittoriale will remain open with a reduced ticket price, but areas affected by the damage will stay off-limits to the public until safety checks are completed.
