Giuli Visits Vittoriale After Storm, Inspects Damage

Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli visited the Vittoriale degli Italiani in the Alto Garda on Monday, July 20, to inspect damage after a severe spell of bad weather. He was accompanied by the head of the Vittoriale Foundation, Giordano Bruno Guerri, and technical staff, following the storm’s impact on the site.

The visit focused on the damage caused by the event, including the fall of multiple cypress trees and the collapse of the main mast of the Nave Puglia. The Priory, Gabriele d’Annunzio’s residence, was not affected, and Giuli also checked the safety measures already underway in the affected areas. “I wanted to be at the Vittoriale today to personally assess the extent of the damage caused by this exceptional weather event and to express the Ministry’s closeness,” he said, adding that restoration work is being coordinated while some parts of the complex remain temporarily inaccessible.

Despite the damage, the Vittoriale remains open to visitors and continues to offer tickets at a reduced rate. The site welcomes more than 300,000 visitors per year and is continuing safety and restoration operations.
