Lombardy Pledges €61M in 2026 Regional Social Fund for Welfare Services

Regione Lombardia has approved the 2026 programming of the Regional Social Fund, allocating €61 million to services for families, minors, people with disabilities and older adults. For the ATS Brescia area, more than €7.5 million have been assigned and distributed across its 12 territorial districts (Ambiti territoriali).

The funding is intended to support the continuity of local service networks and help municipalities respond to community needs. It can be used for interventions including childcare centers (asili nido), home care, foster care, socio-educational centers, group homes (comunità alloggio) and community hubs (centri di aggregazione). The allocation criteria follow those used in previous years—based on resident population, the existing service network and its use—while the final definition of how each district’s share is assigned will be handled by the Ambiti territoriali mayors’ assemblies (Assemblee dei Sindaci).

The measure was presented by regional councillor Claudia Carzeri, who highlighted the role of the resources in supporting local services and cooperation among public institutions, the Third Sector and social organizations. Her remarks reflect the councillor’s position and do not constitute an independent assessment of the policy’s future effects.
