Lower Garda High-Speed Rail Station: Feasibility Study Completed

The Government’s technical and institutional process for the “AV Station of the Lower Garda” is moving forward: the technical and economic feasibility project (PFTE) for the new high-speed stop and the connected station on the historic line has been completed, and the updated cost-benefit analysis has returned a positive outcome, Lombardy regional councillor Claudia Carzeri said in response to a question by senator Adriano Paroli.

The ministry’s reply does not yet confirm funding for the project, but indicates that the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, RFI, and local administrations are continuing the checks needed to assess technical and financial conditions and the possible re-entry of the work into the national infrastructure programming. The PFTE is the planning framework for subsequent steps and covers both the new AV station and the stop on the historic line, described as connected parts of the overall plan.

Carzeri said the next step is identifying the financial resources, pointing to both the completed feasibility project and the positive cost-benefit results. However, ongoing activities will determine whether and under what terms the project can be included in infrastructure plans; no amounts, timelines, or start dates for construction have been communicated so far.
