Accessible Tourism: Marco Bottardi Shares More Than Darkness

Accessible tourism is the focus of *“Più forte del buio”*, the second book by Marco Bottardi, to be presented on Monday, 7 September at 20:30 in the Cloister of S. Maria de Senioribus at the Civic Archaeological Museum “G. Rambotti” in Desenzano del Garda, under the patronage of the city. The book draws on a motorcycle accident on 19 April 2010, near Bottardi’s home, which left him with three fractured vertebrae and a spinal cord injury.

The presentation will trace the personal journey and more than 15 years of work to improve access to places, services and hospitality. Bottardi’s initiatives include accessibility projects for Desenzano’s railway station, a paralympic sailing programme, the first accessible beach on Lake Garda in Rivoltella, and the associations Zero Barriere ODV and World4All. He has also delivered road-safety education in over 80 schools, reaching more than 1,500 students, and has supported inclusive welcome pathways across more than 50 organisations involving over 800 professionals, with the book centered on recovery and turning disability into concrete local commitment.
