The Province of Brescia has officially announced the reopening of SP 9 “Gargnano-Valvestino-Magasa”, which was previously closed due to two landslides and significant rockfalls that occurred after the heavy rains on September 9. Thanks to the installation of stabilizing elements and rockfall barriers, the road section will reopen to vehicular traffic, albeit with restrictions. Starting from 1:00 PM on Monday, December 16, traffic will be managed with alternating one-way flow via traffic lights during specified hours, which are from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 8:00 AM the following day until December 18.
After December 18, the road will remain open with traffic light regulation until further notice. During transit, a reduced speed limit of 30 km/h will be enforced, along with a ban on overtaking and restrictions for vehicles over 7.5 tons. As soon as weather conditions allow, an additional intervention is planned, which will involve a temporary closure to complete the necessary work for the permanent restoration of the roadway.
