From 23 to 27 September, Toscolano Maderno will host the Festival della Montagna, a five-day programme of events for people who love the area and want to discover it through experiences, meetings and activities for all ages. The event is organised by the Municipality of Toscolano Maderno in collaboration with the Associazione Mu.Re Museo Recuperanti 1915-1918 Alto Garda Bresciano, with the participation of numerous local associations and cultural groups.
The festival opens on Wednesday 23 September with three evenings at the Auditorium Cavandoli of the lower secondary school, focused on stories, journeys and testimonies. The first night features the alpini from the Battaglione Morbegno retracing the stages of the retreat from Russia. On Thursday, the programme includes a journey to the Spiti Valley in the Himalayas, following the trail of the snow leopard, alongside the presentation of A.GA.R.T.I.S. research activities in speleology and hydrology. Friday will feature the Curzel family, known for the DMAX series Falegnami ad Alta Quota, discussing the work and challenges of high-altitude building sites.
On the weekend of 26 and 27 September, the festival continues at the Oratory in Toscolano with the Vertical Experience, including climbing on the bell tower, an adventure park and a Free Jump for children and young people, plus music and a food stand. Saturday will also highlight traditions and skills linked to wood, with a demonstration of the “Triathlon del boscaiolo” by the Associazione Boscaioli Alto Garda e Valsabbia ODV and a chainsaw sculpture demonstration by artist Alice Lazzeri. Other activities include an excursion to the Grotta dell’Orso on Monte Spino with A.GA.R.T.I.S., and a special evening for full-moon observation with a telescope in Loc. Prati di San Martino (frazione Montemaderno, access from Sanico). The event concludes on Sunday with two walks dedicated to local history and memory: in Valle delle Cartiere with Antonio Foglio, and in Toscolano with Bruno Festa.
