The Adige-Garda gallery will undergo maintenance until Friday, aimed at ensuring the efficiency of the structure that regulates the flood flow of the Adige River by diverting some of the water into the Lake Garda. This diversion tunnel, operational since 1960 and utilized during hydraulic alert situations, is essential for the safety of residents in the southern part of Trentino and the city of Verona. During the operations, which will last between 4 and 5 hours, the sluice gates will be opened alternately to allow for the inspection of mechanical and electronic components.
Before opening the sluice gates, a cleaning operation will be carried out at the entrance basin in Mori to reduce the accumulated material. It is expected that the discharge into the lake will cause an imperceptible rise in the water level, approximately one millimeter. For safety reasons, navigation and any activities within 200 meters of the gallery’s outlet are prohibited during this period. Water quality monitoring will be conducted by the provincial environmental protection agency (Appa), in collaboration with various local authorities.
