The Prefect of the Province of Brescia, Andrea Polichetti, recently visited the Coast Guard of Lake Garda, located in Salò. During the meeting, he was welcomed by Commander C.F. (CP) Antonello Ragadale, who provided an overview of the operations of the offices and the operational room, from which rescue operations on the lake are managed 24 hours a day. This service is ensured by the Operational Protocol for rescues, signed in 2018 with the Prefectures of Brescia, Verona, and Trento, as well as with the Maritime Directorate of Venice.
The event was also attended by the Director of the Garda and Idro Basin Authority, Ing. Fausta Tonni, with whom Polichetti discussed important issues regarding navigation safety in anticipation of the Public Order and Safety Committee scheduled to take place in Desenzano del Garda. During this meeting, police forces and mayors of the lakeside municipalities will be involved to address the challenges related to the summer season. The Prefect acknowledged the commitment of the Coast Guard in monitoring and rescue operations on the water, emphasizing the importance of the SAR (Search and Rescue) system, which has already resulted in the rescue of 224 people in 2024 in Italy’s largest lake area.
