In recent hours, the Province of Brescia announced the completion of safety works on Provincial Road SP 38 “Tremosine – Tignale,” initiated following the landslide on December 16, 2023, near the “del Camino” Tunnel. The intervention included the consolidation of the tunnel’s vault and walls, containment works, and the resurfacing of the roadway and signage. Despite the commitment and transparency shown through meetings with local stakeholders, recent assessments indicate concerning ground movement that prevents a safe reopening.
Active monitoring has revealed a deformation of 9 mm in recent days, leading provincial representatives to confirm that the priority remains road safety. President Emanuele Moraschini and Paolo Fontana, Provincial Councilor delegated to Road Management, reiterated the importance of waiting for more reassuring data before proceeding with the reopening. Tremosine’s Mayor, Battista Girardi, also expressed regret for the inconveniences caused but emphasized the importance of decisions based on technical evidence. The Province will continue to closely monitor the situation and maintain an open dialogue with the local community.
