On the afternoon of Tuesday, June 10, a Dutch tourist suffered a serious lumbar injury due to a clumsy dive along the Ponale walkway, near the Casa della Trota in Riva del Garda. The incident occurred in an area currently subject to a swimming ban. Despite the pain and difficulty in moving, the man managed to climb a ladder and take refuge on a nearby metal dock, temporarily putting himself out of danger.
The response from emergency services was immediate: a nurse reached the injured individual thanks to the intervention of the State Police’s Nautical Team. After stabilizing the situation at the scene, the tourist was transported on the “Sperone” unit of the Fire Brigade to Porto San Nicolò. From there, he was airlifted to the hospital in Trento for specialized care and further examinations, with the operations coordinated by the personnel of the Riva Fire Brigade at the Benacense sports field.
