Ags Board Replaced to Improve Water Management in Benaco Area

The Azienda gardesana servizi (Ags) board of directors has been renewed in its entirety. The decision was made unanimously for all six members, with only one dissenting vote regarding the appointment of the new president. Essentially, this marks a first political move with new scenarios being fostered to achieve unified management of sewerage, purification, and drinking water distribution services across the entire Benaco territory.

The new president is the accountant Vittorino Zanetti, a freelance professional and labor consultant based in Garda. The Provincial Government is represented on the board by Luciano Terleth, a former mayor of Valeggio, an employee of a public economic entity, with a degree in economics and commerce. The economic operators are represented by the industrial expert Giancarlo Salandini, a consultant for the Bardolino Hoteliers Association, while other associations are led by civil engineer Enrico Rizzetti.

Team Composition and Comments on the Renewal

The team, which will be responsible for managing the company based in Peschiera for the next four years, is completed by: Luigi Dall’Agnola, a freelance civil engineer from Garda; Daniele Lucchini, a Verona-based accountant; and Giovanni Sandri, an employee of Ulss 22 in Bussolengo, who holds a medical degree.

“An increasingly necessary renewal,” admits the mayor of Brenzone, Giovanni Zappalà. “After the council demonstrated it was out of sync with the Ags assembly regarding the establishment of the Garda Ambiente joint-stock company. Nevertheless, there is no doubt that credit must be given to the outgoing administrators who, since their appointment in 1997, have operated with notable skill, resolving pending legal issues and closing difficult disputes under the guidance of Gaetano Romano, the director who recently retired due to age limits.”

The direction of change could only start with a renewal of the board of directors, in order to reach an agreement based on different foundations on the joint-stock company for managing these services, ensuring that it does not excessively disadvantage the municipalities on the Veronese side compared to those on the Brescia lakeshore.

The same sentiment was expressed by the mayor of Peschiera, who stated, “We are very satisfied with the complete renewal of the council, avoiding any semblance of personal primacy or penalizing the excellent work carried out by the outgoing administrators.”

The only negative vote during the election process was cast by the mayor of Bardolino, who opposed the new president. Armando Ferrari explains, “There is nothing personal against him, but I wanted to highlight the excellent results achieved by the team that has been replaced.”

There is great anticipation now to understand the strategies that will be adopted moving forward, seeking to continue the path already mapped out, but aiming for “new conditions within a clear partnership framework.”
