Alpini Celebrate 15th Anniversary of Chapel Overlooking Salò Gulf
The Alpini group of Villa e Cunettone celebrated the fifteenth anniversary of the inauguration of the small chapel, located on the hill overlooking the town, from where a magnificent view of the Gulf of Salò can be admired.
The beautiful sunny day set the perfect backdrop for the celebration, which began with a parade of banners and standard-bearers from nearby alpine sections and a large group of local penne nere (black feathers), all wearing their hats and striped shirts as usual.
Later, everyone gathered at the chapel for mass celebrated by the parish priest, don Dino Bressanelli. The Salò Fanfare performed the Italian national anthem by Mameli, the Alpini hymn, the famous “Trentatré,” and other melodies, all highly appreciated.
Emotional and commemorative moment
At the end, a moving moment occurred when a young person recited a prayer. For the occasion, a cap belonging to an alpino, carved in granite and engraved with the years 1986-2001, was placed on the chapel wall.
Then it was time to eat. The meal consisted of spit-roasted meat with polenta, wine, and dessert. There were 250 participants.
True to tradition, a raffle followed. As always when alpini are involved, the celebration was full of joy and lasted until evening.
